Escobar Survives Marathon Final to Claim Estrellas Victory

Publish date:

The €1,000 Spanish regional PokerStars event drew 498 players to the Gran Casino in Madrid over what was supposed to be three days.

However, deep stacks and careful play saw the final table start Sunday and play out until 8 a.m. Monday Morning.

In the end, Escobar beat fellow Spaniard Jose Luis Rodríguez heads-up to claim the €103,500 first-place prize.

A caterer turned poker pro, the 29-year-old Escobar began playing five years ago. Primarily a cash game player, this was his first major live tournament score.
