2015 NFL Draft Rumors: Where Will DE Shane Ray End Up

One of the top projected picks for the 2015 NFL Draft is Shane Ray, a stud defensive end from University of Missouri. His draft stock could be changing though, as he missed the combine last week due to an injury he suffered during his team’s bowl game.

This year’s draft is full of talented defensive linemen, which makes it hard for Ray and the rest. Some experts have Ray going as high as third overall pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars, and others have him going as low as 13th to the New Orleans Saints.

Ray said he would do all of his athletic drills during his pro day, which should help his stock. He had scouts raving about him even before the combine due to his record-setting season at Missouri. Ray set a school record with 14.5 sacks in 2014, while also recording 65 tackles, including 22.5 for a loss.

The concern scouts have about Ray for the draft is his size. He is listed at 6-feet-2 and 245 pounds, but some expect him to be smaller once measured. At his listed size he is already smaller than NFL standards.

“I’m anxious to see how big he is, because they list him at 6-2, 245 — around there, and I’ve heard from scouts that have gone in there that he’s going to measure in around 6-1,”’s Daniel Jeremiah said. "He’s not very long, and he’s not very heavy. That could be one to keep an eye on because on tape he’s outstanding, but if he comes in a little bit smaller than everyone expected that could hurt his stock a little bit.”

It will be interesting to see where Ray ends up because picks two through five — Titans, Jaguars, Raiders, Redskins — all could use some help in the pass rushing department. If the Titans decide to stick with Zach Mettenberger at quarterback and pass on Winston and Mariota, Ray could be a great fit in Tennessee, as it's in desperate need of a good pass-rusher.
