The Philadelphia Eagles have been linked to rumors surrounding Marcus Mariota and his former coach and now current Eagles coach, Chip Kelly. But a new rumor is swirling around that the Eagles are interested in drafting Colorado State’s quarterback Garrett Grayson.
The report comes from Denver-based radio host Benjamin Allbright, who according to SB Nation isn’t the most established reporter, but he did report that the Rams were a “leading contender” in getting Nick Foles a day before the trade happened.
Grayson had a formal interview with the Eagles and according to the Denver Post he “excelled.” If the Eagles are interested in him, they could save themselves some players and picks by not trading up to take Mariota earlier in the draft. Grayson is ranked as the fourth best QB behind Jameis Winston, Mariota and Brett Hundley.
Grayson had a 68.1 completion percentage in his four-year career at Colorado State where he threw for 9190 yards, 64 touchdowns and 27 interceptions. He missed the combine due to a hamstring injury but had a very good pro-day completing 70 of 74 passes and came pretty close to matching Mariota’s numbers on the skills tests.
"I proved what I can do today," Grayson said. "I think I'm up there with the best, I think obviously everyone knows Winston, Mariota are kind of the 1-2. But as quarterbacks, or any position, you should always be pushing, always fighting for the No. 1 spot at your position, no matter who's out there.
