2013 NFL Week 1 Power Rankings: Broncos, Patriots, Texans, Colts, Chiefs and More

After week 1 of the NFL season, everything has become a little clearer as far as the power rankings go. Mainly, we were just reaffirmed in our thoughts that the NFC, as a whole, is much stronger than the AFC this year. Still, here are your week 2 AFC power rankings:

#1 Denver Broncos

What can be said that hasn’t already been said? Peyton Manning looked unreal Thursday night. Then again, he looks that way quite often in the regular season, but what will happen come playoffs? Either way, the Broncos certainly looked like the class of the AFC in week 1.

#2 New England Patriots

Yes the Pats did not look like their normal selves in week 1 versus the Bills. That can be expected though when Tom Brady is working with virtually a brand new receiving and tight end corps. However, no need to worry yet, Gronk is on the mend and Danny Amendola was “as advertised” on Sunday.

#3 Houston Texans

What an impressive comeback by the Texans on the road. Yes, the first couple quarters were disappointing, but anytime you can score 24 unanswered points on the road, you are doing something right. I still believe the Texans are a solid 2 steps above anyone else in the South.

#4 Indianapolis Colts

For a team that most believe will drop off quite a bit after last year, it was extremely important for the Colts to squeak out a win in week 1 over the Raiders. They didn’t earn a any styles points though, as the lowly Raiders were in the game the entire time and had their chances to win it at the end.

#5 Kansas City Chiefs

It’s hard to tell how legit the Chiefs are as opposed to how BAD the Jaguars are. I am going to give Alex Smith and company the benefit of the doubt for now though. A 26-point victory on the road is always impressive in the NFL.

#6 Baltimore Ravens

Joe Flacco certainly looked like money well spent in week 1, huh? I can promise that won’t be the last time I say that this year.

#7 Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins and Ryan Tannehil looked very solid in a road game that many expected the hometown Browns to win. This team has a legitimate wild card shot in this conference.

#8 Cincinnati Bengals

A.J. Green is a STUD, but I am not sold on Andy Dalton being the guy to take this team to the next level.

#9 Buffalo Bills

The Bills had a very impressive showing against the Patriots. Although, when you’re at home and a huge underdog, you should play “to win” not “not to lose”, which is what it felt like in the 4th quarter on Sunday.

#10 Tennessee Titans

The Titans had one of the most unimpressive wins I have ever seen on Sunday. The defense played huge though.

#11 New York Jets

Hands down the luckiest win of Week 1. I know that a win is a win, but Geno, when an opponent’s stupidity gift-wraps you a victory and you only put up 18 points at home, with 2 turnovers, don’t sit on the sidelines and get cocky like you did.

#12 San Diego Chargers

The Chargers looked like a playoff team for one half and the Jaguars for the second half. We’ll have t wait and see who they truly are.

#13 Cleveland Browns

People have been telling me this team could make a little noise in the Wild Card. I still don’t see it.

#14 Oakland Raiders

At least Terrelle Pryor made some things interesting on Sunday and almost pulled out a road win. OH, and Darren McFadden made it through week 1 without an injury!

#15 Pittsburgh Steelers

Words can’t even describe the monstrosity that WAS the Steelers offense on Sunday. Absolutely horrendous.

#16 Jacksonville Jaguars

Man, good thing the Jags passed on Tim Tebow. Otherwise, their offense would be a mess.
