Usain Bolt has set the bar so high for himself that, even when he does well, folks can’t help but remark about how they’ve seen better.
Bolt outpaced the competition in his heat and ran the 100-meter in 10.09 on Saturday – noticeably slower than the 9.58 record he had previously set. And, for that matter, noticeably slower than the 9.88 that American Ryan Bailey ran in his heat.
Still, seeing as Saturday’s event was largely meaningless and Bolt was clearly not exerting maximum effort, it’s sort of puzzling that folks are blowing what happened out of proportion.
The men’s 100 semifinals will take place on Sunday.
