Many were left unimpressed with Usain Bolt’s Day 1 run to qualify for the 100-meters semifinals, so he stepped up a bit on Day 2. Just a bit, though.
In the second of three semifinals heats scheduled for Sunday, Bolt posted a time of 9.87 seconds – noticeably better than 10.09 seconds he posted the day prior.
Not great, but better.
Despite what his critics might say, it was apparent that Bolt eased up before the finish line on Sunday much like he did on Saturday – meaning that we still haven’t seen him at his best in this year’s games.
American Ryan Bailey finished second to Bolt in that same heat with a time of 9.96 seconds.
The 100-meter finals are scheduled for later today.
