2012 Olympics Video: Oscar Pistorius, South Africa Qualify for 4x400-Meter Relay

When the South African team was unable to finish their 4x400-meter relay qualifier on Thursday, it looked like Oscar Pistorius' time at the London Games was over.

The double-amputee known as Blade Runner appeared to have had his chance to compete for a gold medal dashed when his teammate, Oftense Mogawane, collided with a Kenyan runner during the second leg of their race.

Because of Mogawane's crash – Pistorius never even got a chance to run.

Fortunately, someone on the South African side had the presence of mind to appeal what happened. After a review, the IAAF determined that Pistorius’ squad would run as an additional team in Friday night’s final.

Pistorious will run in the third leg of that event, unless of course someone else crashes into one of his guys.
