Pole vaulting hasn’t gotten a lot of love at the 2012 Olympics, but that sort of changed on Wednesday when Lazaro Borges became a viral sensation.
As the Cuban made his first attempt of the London Games at 5.35 meters, his pole shattered – sending both him and the disjointed pieces of that pole flying. Fortunately, nobody was hurt in the incident.

Sadly, Borges did not qualify for the final.
