2012 Olympics Video: Dana Vollmer Sets World Record in 100m Butterfly

Publish date:

So far at the London Games it’s been swimmers who have stolen the majority of U.S. Olympics-related headlines. That trend figures to continue for at least one more day now that Dana Vollmer pulled off a fantastic come-from-behind victory in the women’s 100-meter butterfly.

Despite being third on the turn, Vollmer dug deep and somehow managed to emerge with both a win and new world record – 55.98 seconds.

The previous world record, 56.06, had been by Sweden's Sarah Sjostrom.
