The individual gold medal that had been eluding Allyson Felix since 2004 eludes her no more.
On Wednesday night, with the whole world watching, Felix beat out Jamaica’s Shelly-Ann Fraser-Price and fellow American Carmelita Jeter to capture first place in the women’s 200 meters. Her time? A pretty impressive 21.88 seconds.
Fraser-Price and Jeter came in at 22.09 and 22.14 seconds, respectively.
Jamaica's Veronica Campbell-Brown and America's Sanya-Richards Ross finished fourth and fifth.
Prior to Wednesday, Felix’s lone gold medal came by way of the 4x400 relay she won during the 2008 Beijing Games.
