2012 Olympics Video: Alex Morgan Leads U.S. Women’s Soccer Team Past Canada

In what was undoubtedly the most thrilling Olympic soccer match in recent memory, the U.S. women’s national team squeaked out a 4-3 extra time victory over Canada on Monday afternoon.

It took herculean efforts from Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe, Abby Wambach and all the officials who quite clearly nudged this U.S Team across the finish line, but somehow all involved found a way to overcome a hat trick by Canada’s Christine Sinclair en route to victory.

Mind you, the Americans trailed at three different points over the course of this game, only to bounce back time after time after time.

There will (and probably should be) a lengthy debate about just how much the officiating played a role in the end result (answer: a lot), but this isn’t the time for it.

Now is the time to enjoy.

Here is the shot by Morgan with virtually no time remaining that ultimately propelled her side into the final (via SportsGrid):

Next up: USA versus Japan for the gold medal on Thursday.
