2012 Olympics Results: Kobe Bryant, LeBron James Lead Team USA Past Argentina (Game Recap)

Kobe Bryant seemed all hyped up at the beginning. It must be that Dwight Howard trade. He scored 11 points in an early 18-6 start for the Americans.

But Argentina came back. And the usual problems once again came out for America. Sometimes, they looked bored and they'll just put up three-pointers out of nowhere. Manu Ginobili made a three-point buzzerbeater at the half to cut the American lead down to 47-40.

Ginobili cuts the lead down to four with another three-pointer. Then Team U.S.A. turned up the defense. The barrage of threes never stopped. Kevin Durant made four three-pointers in the third. The Americans led as many as 19 points in the third.

And then in the fourth quarter, Carmelo Anthony made four straight three-pointers of his own to take Argentina out. No Ric Flair groin shots were thrown by Argentina... and Team U.S.A. easily advances to the gold medal game for their 2008 rematch against Spain.

Durant led Team U.S.A. with 19 points while Melo and LeBron James had 18 points each. Ginobili led Argentina with 18 points. Luis Scola and Carlos Delfino had 15 points each.

Argentina will face Russia for the bronze medal on Sunday. After that, the gold medal will be decided between Team U.S.A. and Spain.
