Rashard Mendenhall enjoyed a solid first game back, but we do have to remember that he’s coming off a severe surgery and now traveling to Tennessee to play on short rest. So far this season, the road team has lost on Thursday night football in three out of four games, including the Bears and the Cardinals. The only road win belongs to the defending champs, New York Giants over the Panthers.
While the Titans are 1-4 and are giving up a league worst 36.2 points a game, the Steelers are 0-2 on the road, including a loss to the 1-3 Oakland Raiders. They are giving up 32.5 points in those road losses. Also, the Steelers lose Troy Polamalu and Lamarr Woodley for this game. Woodley is tied for the team’s sack lead with only 2 sacks.
Kenny Britt is getting back to 100%. If he’s full go this week, it’ll allow the team’s leading receiving in yards, Nate Washington and it’s most targeted receiver (44), Kendall Wright to slide back into more natural roles and the three will benefit heavily.
Add in a little Jared Cook and the fact that the Titans’ QBs have only been sacked eight times in five games with the fact that they are facing a tired defense on a short week that has only managed eight sacks in four games and one interception.
Tennessee may actually pull off the upset here, but take the seven points in what should be a close game.
