2012 NFL Week 13 Power Rankings: Steelers, Ravens, Bengals, Browns

The AFC North had a good weekend, going 3-1 with one divisional game.  Week 13 is going to be crucial. Let’s see how the AFC North stacks up against the rest of the NFL in this week’s Power Rankings.

3)  Baltimore Ravens.  Another week and another nail-biting win for the Ravens.  Looking at the stats, the Ravens shouldn’t be anywhere close to where they are.  But you have to hand it to them; they can play poorly for the entire game then somehow come out with the win.  They may not be the 3rd best team in the NFL, but they have certainly earned my #3 this week with their 9-2 record.

11)  Pittsburgh Steelers.  The Steelers had one of the ugliest offensive performances you’ll ever see.  They put the ball on the ground 8 times and Charlie Batch threw 3 balls to the Browns.  They tallied up 8 turnovers, yet still had a chance to win the game.  I could have put them several spots lower, including below the Bengals, but I’m cutting them some slack.  Charlie Batch is awful.  This team wins the last 2 games easily if Roethlisberger plays.  I think Roethlisberger will play against the ravens on Sunday.  He is listed as 50-50 but this is the biggest game of the year and an absolute must win for the Steelers; Big Ben will play.

12)  Cincinnati Bengals.  The Bengals made a real case to shake up the Rankings for the first time this year.  I can no longer call them a “dark horse” playoff contender.  They are right in the mix at 6-5.  BenJarvus Green-Ellis has been running well and setting the pace for Andy Dalton and the offense.  The Bengals have 3 winnable games on their slate coming up, if they can keep their momentum going, they could be looking at making the playoffs.

28)  Cleveland Browns.  The Browns didn’t beat Pittsburgh this week; the Steelers beat themselves.  But the Browns do get the W and I have moved them up a couple spots in my rankings.  It’s hard to say that they really “earned” the win, but nonetheless, they got it.  The Browns have no chance at the playoffs but they will look to continue to play better by playing 2 of the 4 teams ranked below them in my Power Rankings in the next two weeks.
