The 2012 NBA playoffs tip-off this weekend and, after a week of uncertainty regarding which teams will land in what seeds, we still don’t have a clear picture of what the first round will look like. The San Antonio Spurs, Oklahoma City Thunder, Los Angeles Lakers, Memphis Grizzlies, Los Angeles Clippers, Denver Nuggets, Dallas Mavericks and Utah Jazz will all be in action on Saturday and Sunday – but the actual matchups and who will have homecourt in the first round is still up for grabs heading into Thursday night.
Here is what we know for certain at the moment:
The Thunder will play either the Mavs or Nuggets on Saturday. That will be the only game of the day featuring Western Conference teams. On Sunday however, the remaining West powers will all begin their postseason runs. The Spurs will face the Jazz and the Lakers will square off against the Mavs or Nuggets, depending on what happens on the final day of the season. The Grizzlies and Clippers will also play on Sunday, but we don’t yet know who will have homecourt in that one.
The postseason picture will come completely into focus after everything wraps up tonight.
