2012 NBA Mock Draft V3.0: Picks 1-30

It’s sort of hard to tell right now, what with incessant speculation about rigged lotteries and all, but the 2012 NBA Draft is just around the corner. We’re officially less than a month away from all of the festivities and, really, everyone who isn’t secretly griping to Adrian Wojnarowski about how the league fixed the lottery for the New Orleans Hornets, is likely hard at work preparing for the shindig.

Here is what we know for certain right now: New Orleans has the top selection and, barring some sort of calamity of epic proportions, will take Anthony Davis out of Kentucky No. 1 overall. From there, things get interesting.

The rest of the top five goes like this: the Charlotte Bobcats will pick second, Washington Wizards third, Cleveland Cavaliers fourth and Sacramento Kings fifth. While nobody knew how the order would ultimately unfold, that’s the top five that everyone had going into the lottery anyway. The four aforementioned squads will take (in no particular order): Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Bradley Beal, Andre Drummond and Thomas Robinson.

Beyond the top five, the only real surprise from the lottery was the Brooklyn Nets hilariously losing their pick to the Portland Trail Blazers. That wound up being a double-whammy because, not only does it obviously prevent them from bettering their squad, it also kills any shot they had of packaging the pick in a deal for Dwight Howard.

Outside of the Hornets’ top pick, the Bobcats’ continued bad luck streak and the Nets’ latest fail – nothing really changed in terms of the draft over the last 12 hours. The projected picks remain largely the same, and what teams are looking for similarly haven’t really changed.

Over the past week or so we've put together our mock draft. This draft was done before yesterday’s lottery, but most of it still works just as well today as it did when it was originally created. The next one will feature the newly revised order.

Here is how we envision the 2012 NBA Mock Draft turning out:
