The Memphis Grizzlies took it to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night. There is really no other way to describe it. From the second quarter onward, aside from some OKC runs, this was really Memphis’ coming out party. A lot of people said that this team was legit in the preseason – but it’s hard to shake your preconceived notions about a given franchise. For better or worse, everyone just considers the Grizzlies a part of that second tier in the Western Conference. Or at least they did until last night.
Rudy Gay led the way for Memphis with 28 points (12-of-21 shooting), six rebounds and five assists. Zach Randolph pitched in 20 points and 10 rebounds, too. All in all, five Grizzlies players scored in double figures.
Kevin Durant led the way for OKC with 34 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.
