Are the Los Angeles Clippers the best basketball team in L.A. right now? It definitely looked like it on Wednesday night when they beat the defending champion Miami Heat 107-100. Sure the Clippers were playing at home, and yes it is just an early season showdown – but the winning squad clearly showed one and all that they’re fully capable of hanging with the league’s big dogs. (Which is more than their Staples Center brethren can claim at this point.)
Blake Griffin led the way for Los Angeles’ starters with 20 points, 14 rebounds and six assists. Chris Paul pitched in 16 points and 10 assists, too. Jamal Crawford had 22 off the bench. Five Clippers players scored in double figures in this one.
LeBron James led the way for Miami with 30 points on 12-of-23 shooting.
