Machado gets the call for the O's and Phelps pitches in to help the Bronx Bombers in New York.
SS/3B MANNY MACHADO (BALTIMORE)- Machado had an awesome four-game series this weekend against Kansas City to begin his career. He hit in all four games as he went 6 for 16 with five runs scored, a double, triple and three homers to go with seven RBI. This guy is only 20 years old and will be a fixture for years to come in O-Town. Grab him as fast as you can but do expect some growing pains.
SP-DAVID PHELPS (NY YANKEES)- Phelps got the win last night against Texas running his record to 3-3 with a 2.53 ERA for the season. David has a 1.16 WHIP and is averaging over a strike out per inning in his 57 innings of work. He has been used in middle relief as well as a starter throughout the year. With CC Sabathia out now ion the disabled list it looks like Phelps will fill in as a starter. He is a must pick up if you need help in the pitching categories.
1B- DAVID COOPER (TORONTO)- Cooper got called back to the majors recently to replace the oft injured Adam Lind. Cooper, who was the 2011 PCL batting champion is currently hitting .287 with four home runs and 10 RBI's in just 115 AB's for the Jays. If David can see regular starts for the remainder of the season his value will sky rocket and can help you in several categories. Keep an eye on his playing time.
OF-MOISES SIERRA (TORONTO)- Sierra hit his first major league home run last night for the Blue Jays helping them get an extra inning win at home versus the White Sox. Since his call up he is hitting .375 in just 32 AB's. Sierra's last two years in the minors suggest he may have the potential to be a 5 tool player if given ample time to shine. With Toronto pretty much out of the playoff picture I can see some playing time in the future for the youngster.
OF-BRANDON BARNES (HOUSTON)- Brandon is currently hitting .222 with a home run as the Astros center fielder. Barnes has split the 2012 season between Double-A and Triple-A where he batted .321 with 12 homers, 39 doubles, 69 RBI, 81 runs and 21 stolen bases in 106 games. The minor league numbers are excellent for him but he isnt considered one of Houston's top flight prospects so I recommend proceeding with caution if you are considering him as a pickup.
