2011 NFL Fantasy Football: Week 12 Round-Up

It’s strange not to see a single Buffalo Bill in the Top 25 this week in our resident flex expert’s Top 150 rankings for Week 12. But, with Fred Jackson done for the season, there’s really little hope for the Bills, especially with an underwhelming C.J. Spiller taking over the running back duties. Mayo breaks down the situation in Buffalo, including the strange disappearance of Ryan Fitzpatrick and his inability to throw down the field, in his column this week. [Flexpert]

Speaking of the Buffalo Bills, our resident doctor took a look at a few banged up Bills and other cold weather teams that are dealing with a ding or two. Dr. Roto has some advice for you Jay Cutler owners out there and sends a few tips to anyone who thinks it’s a good idea to own a Kansas City Chief. Kyle Orton, anyone? The real question will be, will he or won’t he? See what Dr. Roto thinks in this week’s column. [Operating Table]

In the spirit of the holidays, Jake Ciely gives thanks to those Fantasy Footballers who have earned his recognition. From DeMarco Murray to Victor Cruz to Minka Kelly, Ciely is one thankful gent. He’s also forecasting some big weeks from some players who might still be available in your league, so you might want to take a read, benefit from his wisdom and in return send some holiday cheer his way. [Hold ‘Em or Fold ‘Em]

Adam Ronis weighs in on the true value of C.J. Spiller, now that Jackson is done for the season and the Bills have added Tashard Choice to their roster. As Ronis puts it, just because Spiller is getting an opportunity to start doesn’t mean he should be starting on your Fantasy roster. Opportunity doesn’t always bread success. Also, this week, Ronis has some special advice for those of you who might have seen Miles Austin dropped in your leagues. [Xpert Mailbag]

Another week, another must-read set of rankings from Scott “The King” Engel. In this week’s lineup rankings, Engel gives Victor Cruz the nod as a Top 10 wide receiver in the Giants matchup against the Saints. It’s hard to argue with the success that Cruz has had and the Saints penchant for giving up deep plays. As always, this is a must-read before you set your lineup this week. [Week 11 Lineup Rankings]

Now that Adrian Peterson is out for the Vikings, Mike Gilbert happens to think that the player who should benefit the most from this injury is none other than Percy Harvin, Yes, I said Percy Harvin. Sure, you probably want to add Toby Gerhart where needed, but Harvin is indeed the best playmaker on the Vikings, now that AP is hurt. Look to see Harvin get more touches this week, including a handful out of the backfield. Check out Gilberts’ rankings, freaks, geeks and more, in this week’s column. [Hot Freaks]

Once again, the so-called Fantasy expert is taking a look ahead and helping you plan for your playoff run. Last week he gave you a few offensive players whose teams have a highly favorable playoff schedule. This week, he’s looking at team defenses. The Top 3 defenses on his list are all at or near 100-percent owned, but the 4th team on his list is probably owned in just 5-10 percent of leagues. How’s that for a sleeper! [So-Called Fantasy Expert]

Sarah Bojarski is giving Fantasy thanks this holiday season as well, and one player she’s grateful for is Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski. Not only because he’s been the top Fantasy TE, alongside Jimmy Graham, of course, but he’s been a major coup at the position as a late-round pick. And one who has helped turn Tom Brady back into a Top 3 Fantasy QB. As someone who owns Brady in two leagues and Gronkowski in none, I can certainly share in Sarah’s gratitude for Gronk. [Pink Zone Coverage]

Consistency is the key to winning in Fantasy Football, and that’s why we’re so very thankful to have Bob Lung on our team. And while we’re used to seeing guys like Matthew Stafford and Aaron Rodgers turn in consistent performances from week to week, it was nice to see Josh Freeman score high on the Quality Game Score in Week 11. The problem is, I don’t think anyone is expecting much consistency from Freeman going forward. [Quality Games Score]
