2011 Fantasy Football: NFL Week 13 Waiver Wire Pickups

Waiver Wire is our weekly look at players available in many leagues that could have an immediate impact on your fantasy roster, or simply just players to keep on your radar. We’ll be here all season to let you know which players to watch, who to ignore, and most importantly, who to pick up. If you have any waiver wire questions, feel free to post them in our Fantasy Football Forum.

Add in all Leagues

Roy Helu WAS | RB

I know I must be starting to sound like a broken record, but it looks like Helu is going to be the guy to own when it counts the most. The Redskins don’t have that hard of a schedule during the fantasy playoffs, and I think Helu could help win fantasy championships. If he is still available in your league you need to do whatever it takes to try to get him. (about 50% owned)

C.J. Spiller BUF | RB

I wasn’t 100% sold that the Bills would give Spiller a huge workload in week 12, but he had 22 touches. That is the good news, the bad news is he only averaged 5 yards per catch, and 2.9 yards per carry. I think Spiller is going to be asked to do a lot of the Bills in the next few games, but if he doesn’t start producing they might take away some of his touches. (about 65% owned)

Michael Crabtree SF | WR

Crabtree has been having a hard time finding the endzone, but he is starting to consistently get involved in the 9ers offense. He has 5 or more catches and over 50 yards in 5 of his last 6 games. His schedule down the stretch is looking great, and if you are looking for a receiver you need to look at Crabtree. (about 55% owned)

Santana Moss WAS | WR

Moss came back for the Skins week 12, and it looks like he is ready to take back over as the #1 receiver for the rest of the year. He didn’t have that great of a game, but he was able to haul in 4 catches. The Skins have a very soft fantasy playoff schedule, so I like the upside of Moss over the last few weeks. (about 60% owned)

Tim Tebow DEN | QB

Tebow has been shaky at times, but it seems like he is always good for 15+ points. His schedule for the fantasy playoffs is extremely soft, and I like his chances for some big games. Take a look at your QBs schedule moving forward, because there might be a week that you would consider starting Tebow. (about 65% owned)

Toby Gerhart MIN | RB

I am not convinced that Peterson will able to come back week 13, so I think Gerhart might get another chance to start. Gerhart was able to find the endzone as the starter week 12, but overall he wasn’t able to get much going against the Falcons. If Gerhart does get another chance to start he should be able to find more running room against the Broncos. (about 35% owned)

Von Miller DEN | LB

Miller kept his sack streak going in week 12, he now has at least 1 sack in each of his last 3 games. During that stretch he has also been collecting a ton of tackles. The Broncos first round pick is really starting to get things going, and at this point I think he is a much add in all IDP leagues. (about 35% owned)

Perry Riley WAS | LB

Ever since taking over for Rocky McIntosh in the starting lineup, Riley has been racking up the tackles. He is averaging 6 solo tackles and 5 tackle assists over the last 3 weeks. The second year linebacker out of LSU has been solid, and he is worth a look in all IDP leagues. (about 5% owned)

Matt Moore MIA | QB

Moore has played pretty good lately for the Fins, but not many people seem to be picking him up. In his last 4 games he is averaging 225 passing yards, and he has 7 TDs and only 1 INT during that stretch. Moore’s playoff schedule is looking good, so if you need a backup QB with upside I think Moore is a solid pick. (about 15% owned)

New England NE | DEF

At this point it seems like any defense that plays the Colts has a good chance of putting up some points. The Patriots give up a ton of yards on defense, but they should still be able to force some turnovers week 13. The Colts offense just can’t seem to find their grove, and I don’t expect them to find it anytime soon. (about 65% owned)

San Diego SD | DEF

The Chargers defense has been pretty bad this year, but against the Jags week 13 they shouldn’t have that hard of a time. MJD is putting together a solid year, but the Jags passing game has been terrible. I am not expecting a lot of sacks, but they should be able to hold the Jags to a low point total and force a couple turnovers. (about 40% owned)

Johnny Knox CHI | WR

Knox has really gotten things going over the last two weeks, and a change at quarterback might get Knox back on the fantasy map. Hanie looked towards Knox a lot in his first NFL start, and this could be a sign of things to come. The Bears are going to struggle at times on offense down the stretch, but it’s a good sign that Hanie is not afraid to throw the ball down field to Knox. (about 30% owned)

Keep an Eye on

Jordan Norwood CLE | WR

This rookie out of Penn State is starting to make a little bit of noise on the Browns offense. He hauled in 4 catches for 69 yards week 12, and he scored his first NFL touchdown. The Browns have a tough schedule coming up, so they should be playing from behind a lot. Norwood is a long shot to consistently put up solid numbers, but his numbers are trending up.
