If you go online, you’ll find many hilarious videos where policemen have to deal with intoxicated drivers. However, of all the videos out there, nothing comes close to the lunacy of the incident we recount in this article.
On a fateful day, the Derbyshire police department got a call about a drunken motorist. The caller informed them about a collision that occurred at junction 25 of the M1 in Derbyshire, England.
As you would expect, the policemen swung into action and upon arriving at the scene of the incident, they got more than they expected. The policemen noticed that the driver who had called them to report a drunk driver was probably drunk too.
The collision occurred between a Peugeot and a Fiat and one of the drivers claimed that he suspected that the other driver was drunk. The police arrived at the scene of the incident and used breathalyzers to check if both men were over the limit.
While one of the drivers blew 40 micrograms of alcohol per 100 ml of breath, the other recorded 78 micrograms. Both men were said to be over the legal limit which is 35 micrograms.
The Derbyshire roads policing unit posted pictures of the incident on their official Twitter account. The picture of both cars was posted with this caption:
“You couldn’t make this up, very minor collision at the junction causing no damage. One driver suspects that the other is drunk so quite rightly calls us. Forgetting he is also drunk; both arrested. One below 40 and the other 78, charged to court.”
The post was a comedic relief for most people who laughed at the incident.
