A man is suing Mississippi and its governor over the state flag. Exactly 155 years after the start of the Civil War, Attorney Thomas Moore is arguing that the Mississippi flag is an “unconstitutional relic of slavery”. This isn’t the first time the flag has been debated. U.S. District Judge Carlton Reeves says the Confederate emblem on the flag is “anti-American”, but he has yet to decide if he will consider or dismiss the lawsuit. Some believe there is more at stake than just a flag.
