Laura and Josh Dell adopted their daughter Ellie on Aug. 27 and gave Laura’s mother, Sharon Bloomingdale, the gift of a lifetime. (Video below)
In the adorable moment, captured on video, the newly-formed family shows up at Bloomingdale’s workplace and hands her a baby onesie. Bloomingdale immediately runs to meet her new granddaughter and starts crying.
"After the video ended, she walked around the office with Ellie and told everyone, 'When I came to work this morning, I wasn't a grandma and now I am,'" Laura told The Huffington Post.
Like Ellie, Bloomingdale was also adopted as an infant.
“It'll be great for Ellie to see the video when she grows up and know that grandma loved her even before she got to know her,” Laura said.
"We love adoption and there are so many kids out there that need a home, she added. "Next month is National Adoption Month, so we decided this would be a way to show people how beautiful adoption is."
In a statement on a fundraising page devoted to covering the cost of the adoption, Josh said he and Laura felt called by God to adopt a child.
Ellie is reportedly doing well.
“She is happy and has the cutest smile,” Josh wrote on the page. “She loves to stick her tongue out and to have her legs bicycled.”
