Waitress Receives Special Gift From Homeless Man

A makeup artist and waitress reportedly received a touching gift from a homeless man she bought a meal for.

Morissa Pena posted about the amazing experience on her Facebook page, explaining that she first noticed the man sitting on a curb across the street from the Hooters restaurant she worked at.

According to her Feb. 3 Facebook post, Pena approached the man, named Rick, and asked if he was okay. He replied "no" and began sobbing. He told her he was hungry, and Pena then brought him inside the restaurant.

"I sat him down and told him he could order whatever he wanted, on me," she wrote. "Another table bought him a dessert.

"He was so grateful…he told me he was here from Ohio and had been hit by a car, and he couldn’t go to the hospital because he didn’t have even an ID."

Rick then showed Pena a necklace that had Phillipians 4:13 engraved on it.

"He was telling me how it was the only thing he had," she wrote. "We cried together.

"He finished up his meal and told me he would never forget my name, my face, and how I had given him hope again. I asked if it was okay if we took a picture together, he was delighted. He even pulled out a small comb and combed his beard for our picture…so cute! As he goes to leave, he takes off his necklace and hands it to me, and told me he wanted me to have it. I was speechless. I still am."

Pena said the necklace was a "debt" she will "never be able to repay" and added that she'd never forget the few moments she shared with Rick.

"Remember to help where you can and to do it selflessly," she wrote at the end of her post.

"If you can, share this as a reminder, and also so more people can send positive thoughts towards Rick and the other homeless people who need it," she added.

Pena's Facebook post quickly went viral, garnering over 600 shares in five days.

"You've given this man hope in a world that's crushed him," one Facebook user commented. "I pray his life turns around for the better. You'll be blessed for this. Truly wonderful story."
