'I Cried': Stranger's Note To Mother Goes Viral

A mother shopping with her daughters at Costco was stunned to receive a note from a girl who overheard their casual conversation throughout the store.

The mother's emotional story was shared by Love What Matters on their Facebook page Feb. 27. In the post, the mother explained that she'd been walking through the store with her two daughters, making light conversation about shoveling snow.

Once they were in line to pay for their groceries, a man walked up to them with an envelope in hand.

"I asked what this was for and they said, ‘It’s a gift and we would like it if you accepted it. There is a note inside explaining why,'" the mother wrote. "His daughter asked if she could hug me and I said yes, so she did, and I felt such a warm hug. We said bye and went on our way."

When the mother got to her car, she opened the envelope and was taken aback by what it said:

It said, ‘Just listening to you talk to your daughters reminded me of my mother who I lost 2 years ago. I made my dad follow you around for a little so I can hear you guys talk because I wanted to pretend that it was my mom talking to me.' ... You just assured me that I am a great mother even though sometimes every parent questions themselves. I cried, God it really got to me, I had to share.

The post quickly went viral, with many readers praising the mother for the effect she had on the girl.

"How sweet!" one reader commented. "She will never know how much she touched the girl's heart! Wish all stories on FB were as touching as this one!!"

"What a blessing you received from that little girl!" another wrote. "Her mom is probably smiling at you from heaven."

The Facebook post garnered over 12,000 likes and 2,000 shares in three days.
