A video of a Florida police officer’s response to a complaint about kids playing basketball in the street is going viral (video below).
Gainesville, Florida, police received a phone call on Jan. 15 about kids playing basketball “loudly” in the street, ABC 13 reported. Officer Bobby White responded to the call.
Dash cam footage shows Officer White approaching one of the boys.
“You believe someone's calling to complain about kids playing basketball in the street? Do you believe that?” White is heard asking the boy in the video. “I don't know who called, but obviously, I ain't got no problem with it.”
Officer White then joined the game and played basketball with the boys. He even had the hoop lowered so he could deliver an impressive slam dunk.
At the end of the video, White told the kids he might bring some more officers with him to play next time. He also politely asked them to be mindful of their neighbors.
The video was shared on the Gainesville Police Department's Facebook page on Jan. 21 and has been viewed more than 4 million times in one day. It ends with a message to the public: “So if you call GPD to complain about kids being kids, this is how Officer White is going to handle it. We're going to let kids be kids. We are going to focus on the ones that commit crimes. #HoopsNotCrime”
