Repairman Gives Amazing Gift To Soldier's Wife After Fixing Furnace (Photos)

A repairman gave a struggling mother and wife of a soldier a giant discount and an act of kindness after fixing her furnace.

Pennsylvania mother Bridget Stevens wrote about her experience on Facebook, with the post quickly going viral. In her post, Stevens explained that she came home one day with her sons to a cold, 50 degree house. She soon realized the thermostat wasn’t working properly, and called Betlyn Heating and Cooling.

“I called Betlyn's, thinking I'd get a machine and have to leave a message, then run to the store for space heaters,” she wrote.

“Ultimately, Paul, the owner, answered and was very patient as he walked me through different things to do to try to get it back on. When none of that worked, he said he needed to come to the house to fix it.”

Stevens went on to explain that while Betlyn was fixing the furnace, the two got to talking about her husband, Bobby, and his recent deployment.

“I had mentioned in passing that I tried to figure it out with my husband, but since he's deployed and couldn't see it, he wouldn't know what to do,” she wrote.

She then admitted that she began to worry about the cost of the repair, but Betlyn quickly eased her fears.

“He handed me the slip that is in this photo,” she wrote. The receipt read, “No Heat. Evening call. Deployment Discount,” with a total of $1 charged.

“When I tried to give him any money at all, he said that the $1 was a joke, and to thank my husband for his service,” Stevens wrote.

“So, thanks Paul Betlyn. My house is nice and warm thanks to you.”

Stevens post garnered nearly 5,000 shares on Facebook in the week after it was posted on Jan. 13, with readers praising Betlyn for his kind deed.

“This is sooo great! I'm sharing your post because more companies need to do this!” one reader commented.

“That brought tears to my eyes. There are good people in this world, Bentlyn Heating and Cooling you are awesome!” another wrote.
