Student Brings Dead Squirrel To Class, Wants To Eat It

An 8-year-old third grader at an Oklahoma City school brought a dead squirrel to school in his backpack recently.

But when asked by the principal why he had done so, he gave quite an unexpected answer, according to KOKH.

“I just called to let you know that Brylan has made my day,” the principal said when she telephoned Layde Hobson, the boy’s mother, to let her know what happened, according to Her View From Home.

Brylan’s teacher found the squirrel in his bag and sent him to the office.

Brylan said in response to the principal’s query, “I really wanted squirrel dumplings for dinner.”

The principal asked Hobson over the phone if she wanted the squirrel to be sent home with Brylan and she declined.

Hobson told KOKH that her husband sometimes jokes about making squirrel dumplings for dinner.

However, she never expected her son to take matters into his own hands to find squirrels for the recipe. She believes he must have picked up the animal on his way to school.

After he returned home later that day, Brylan apologized to his mother and was almost in tears.

“Mom I’m so sorry. I don’t know what I was thinking,” Brylan said, according to Her View From Home.

Hobson wrote that she had just spent $50 on a new backpack for her son. However, she didn’t feel she could get angry with him because the principal had found the situation so hilarious.

Hobson posted about the incident online and it obtained over 75,000 reactions and 79,000 shares on Facebook.
