Photos Of Obama In Muslim Dress Released (Photos)

Newly released photos of President Barack Obama at a Muslim wedding in the 1990s have sparked controversy online.

On July 6, Fox News host Bill O'Reilly released previously unseen photos of Obama wearing traditional Islamic garb while attending his half-brother Malik's wedding, the Daily Mail reports. O'Reilly, who hosts the conservative talk show "The O'Reilly Factor," said the photos were taken in Maryland in the early 1990s.

In the photos, Obama is seen wearing a brown embroidered gown and a white Taqiyah, or Muslim prayer cap, on his head, the Daily Express reports.

Obama was reportedly the best man at Malik's wedding, and Malik was the President's best man when he married First Lady Michelle Obama, according to the Daily Mail.

Although the photos have not been independently verified, O'Reilly said they were evidence that the current U.S. President's "deep emotional ties" to Islam have prevented him from effectively combating terrorists in the Middle East. O'Reilly also reportedly said the photos prove that Obama is not a "devout Christian."

"There's no question the Obama administration's greatest failure is allowing the Islamic terror group ISIS to run wild, murdering thousands of innocent people all over the world, including many Muslims," O'Reilly said on the show.

"Mr. Obama has never, never acknowledged that mistake, nor does he define the ISIS threat accurately," O'Reilly added.

Many conservative politicians, including Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump, have criticized Obama for failing to use the phrase "Islamic terrorism" and suggested that this was a sign of the President's secret sympathy for Islam.

Obama has responded to these criticisms by saying that the phrase is a "political distraction" for the real threat posed by groups like ISIS.

'If there's anyone out there who thinks we're confused about who our enemies are, that would come as a surprise to the thousands of terrorists who ... we've taken off the battlefield," he said in a recent speech.

Obama was born in Hawaii to an American mother and a Kenyan father who practiced Islam, the Daily Express reports. He attended both Muslim and Christian schools during his early childhood before returning to Hawaii to live with his grandparents, who gave him a secular upbringing.
