Ellen: 'Finding Dory' Has Transgender Stingray (Video)

Actress Ellen DeGeneres, who stars in Disney Pixar's upcoming animated film "Finding Dory," recently said there would be a transgender stingray in the children's flick (video below).

"I think it is both darker and lighter," DeGeneres told USA TODAY of the upcoming movie. "And I've said to many people because it's more complex and layered and there's more messaging in it. It's still obviously a kids' film. It's an animated Disney/Pixar film, but it's more. I think adults will be equally, if not more, drawn to this film."

A trailer for the film shows two women near a baby stroller, which has fueled rumors of a lesbian couple.

"I don't mind the question, and I don't know if it's true or not," DeGeneres added. "I don't know if it is or if she just has a bad short haircut. Who knows if she is a lesbian? Actually, I'll tell you a little secret. There’s a stingray that’s becoming sting-Rhonda, so there’s a trans sting in the movie."

A Pixar rep wouldn't comment to Breitbart News about the possible transgender stingray.

On the issue of the possible lesbian couple, the movie's director Andrew Stanton has said "there’s no right or wrong answer," notes The Independent, while DeGeneres has called the possibility "a great thing."

"I think everything that we see in the media, whether it’s television or film or anything you see, should represent everything that’s happening in the world," DeGeneres told reporters at a recent news conference. "I think everybody in the world should be seen and represented."

DeGeneres also joked about one of the female character's haircuts (again): "If that’s the definition of a gay woman, then how dare you? Just because someone has a short, bad haircut doesn’t mean she’s gay. She just has a bad hairdresser!"

There have been two recent social media campaigns on Twitter calling for Disney to include gay couples in their films with the hashtags #GiveElsaAGirlfriend and #GiveCaptainAmericaABoyfriend.
