A dog and a kitten are now safe after a veterinary technician from the Mercy Animal Clinic in Garland, Texas, found them by the side of the road.
The dog, a stray female pit bull, was nursing the 2-day-old kitten.
Marina, the veterinary technician who found the pair, brought them to the clinic, which posted to its Facebook page: “The dog is sweet and loves the kitten, but her milk is drying up. We are bottle feeding the kitten today and placing it in a home with a nursing mother cat tonight. Good job Marina!”
The pit bull, dubbed “Pittie,” was upset when the kitten, dubbed "Kitty," went home with Dr. Hamlin for bottle feedings. Hamlin wrote on Facebook: “I brought the kitty home to bottle feed tonight, as I left, the pitbull starting howling. I bet she’ll be happy to see her tomorrow. Anybody want to adopt the two together? :))))”
Pittie and Kitty have a potential adopter lined up who lives close to the veterinary facility.
Mercy Animal Clinic has posted several videos of Pittie affectionately licking and grooming Kitty, who’s just as happy to see her adopted mom.
