A road rage confrontation turned racial between a cyclist and a driver in Sunnyvale, California, on June 29 (video below).

The cyclist, Paula Nuguid, posted a video of the incident on Facebook, along with a description:

This white guy thought it would be okay to honk at me and repeatedly call me a bitch as I was making a legal left turn. When I confronted him about using his 2-ton vehicle to intimidate my 9-year-old daughter and me, he called me a Cambodian n-word. I hope his friends, family, and employer see this.

Some background: This happened to me today at 4:33pm as I was traveling south on Frances St in the downtown area of Sunnyvale, California, which is part of Silicon Valley. I was trying to make a legal left into a parking lot where Frances St and Olsen St intersect. His claim I made an illegal right is absurd. I was traveling east in the bike lane on Evelyn Ave and the light was green as I turned right.

I was signaling left and waiting for oncoming traffic to pass when this man began incessantly honking at me, calling me a bitch, and telling me to get out of his way. I was attempting to make a left the way the California DMV recommends.

In the video, Nuguid argued with the driver, who honked at her, about where she was supposed to be on the street while preparing to make a left turn.

"Why are you honking at me?" Nuguid asked. "Why are you calling me a b***h? Why are you calling me a b***h? You’re in a two-ton vehicle and my daughter and I are on our bikes!"

The two argued about a previous turn that Nuguid and her daughter made, and the one they were planning to make.

Nuguid filmed the man and his license plate, and yelled: "How f****** dare you, you entitled white prick!"

"Oh, shut the f*** up," he replied.

Nuguid stated: "Get the f*** out of California! I can tell you're not from here!"

Moments later, the driver responded: "F***** Cambodian n*****, get out of here."

Nuguid informed the man that the video was going on Facebook, and he gleefully responded: "Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Awesome!"

Nuguid told that this was not the first time that she had experienced racial harassment from a white man during her bike riding trips.

Nuguid added that she and her daughter cried after this latest incident, and that she has spoken with her kids about racism.

The mom posted screenshots on Facebook of another Facebook user who accused her of being "racist and hateful."
