The 2016 presidential contenders have some unexpected views on marijuana legalization. Here's where each candidate stands on the issue. What do you think: Should states have the right to legalize marijuana?
The DEA classifies marijuana as a schedule I drug, placing it in the same category as heroin, LSD, and ecstasy. They define it as having "no currently accepted medical use.” But the FDA has approved medications derived from cannabinoids. Smoking medical marijuana is legal in 23 states plus Washington, D.C. Four states have legalized recreational marijuana and at least 5 more will vote on it this coming election. The more conservative states remain staunchly opposed. With some even attempting to take the liberal states to court for breaking federal law. The presidential candidates are split on the issue and the current administration has urged the Supreme Court not to get involved. Share and comment to find out where your friends stand in the debate.
