Pilot Tackles Drunk Passenger On Flight

A man from Lexington, Kentucky, was tackled and subdued by a pilot as he attempted to shove his way off a plane that had just landed in Charlotte, North Carolina, and reportedly attacked a flight attendant.

The flight was on July 21 and the incident involved 25-year-old Michael Kerr, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader.

A video of the incident, shot by 23-year-old Brian Colon, appeared to show Kerr threatening to break the pilot's jaw and later pushing the flight attendant to the floor of the plane.

It was this act that prompted the pilot to tackle Kerr to the ground and yell "You don’t put your hands on my flight attendant!"

"We landed and were taxiing, and waiting for the jet bridge to arrive at the exit door and the man started screaming, 'let's go, go,'" Colon said.

When a flight attendant instructed Kerr to sit down, he refused and followed her into the forward galley.  It was at this point that the pilot came out of the cockpit and intervened in the situation.

Colon said the police arrived 15 to 20 minutes after the incident occurred.

"They had to hold him, solid, for like 15 minutes. They kept apologizing the whole time to the passengers. And the guy kept fighting back," said Colon.

As he was being held, Kerr said, "Whatever you do is going on Facebook, and you’re a ... complete ... loser. You heard me right the first time."

Kerr had reportedly had three whiskies on the plane before his combative encounter with the plane's flight crew, reports Daily Mail.

He faces multiple charges, including assault and interfering with a flight crew or attendant, and was released on $20,000 bail after being arraigned on Aug. 1.  He has also lost his job as a cook, the the Lexington Herald-Leader reports.

"I was scared. I was very scared. I felt like the flight attendant’s life was in danger, and I felt like someone else needed to step in, the way he treated her," said Colon, who is also a flight attendant.
