Man Has Valentine's Day Dinner With Wife's Ashes (Photo) Promo Image

A photo of an elderly man having Valentine's Day dinner with the ashes of his late wife has gone viral.

The photo was taken by Texas resident Chasidy Gwaltney, the Daily Mail reported. It shows an elderly man at a restaurant sitting across an urn presumably containing the ashes of his late wife.

The man appears to be in tears as he sits with a plate full of food and two glasses of wine. A Valentine's Day card can also be seen on the table, with the words "You & Me" inscribed on it.

Gwaltney shared the photo on Facebook to remind people to appreciate their loved ones while they still can:

You know? We are all guilty of taking our other half for granted from time to time. We may forget to give a goodbye kiss, say I love you or just be so caught up in what we are doing at the moment that we don't notice the very little things that mean so much to our special someone.

I saw something today that has made me remember that we won't always have each other to hold, talk to, love, play with or even just aggravate every now and then.

This picture speaks loudly and it may hurt your heart as it has mine. This man looks like he is spending Valentine's Day alone at first glance but that is actually his wife in that very beautiful bottle sitting on the table.

Apparently his love for her was and still is very strong as he takes her ashes out for a Valentine's lunch date together. He even bought her a glass of wine....

Please love your Sweetheart while you have the opportunity, you never know what tomorrow will bring or take away!

Happy Valentine's Day All!!!

The photo quickly went viral, being shared more than 400,000 times in just two days. Thousands of social media users commented on the photo. Most agreed with Gwaltney.

"That make me so sad!! We really do take our loved ones for granted sometimes!! So sad," wrote one user.

"So true. I woke up one morning to find my husband passed away," wrote another. "We got married on valentine's day and every since he passed away valentine's day has never been the same. Spend each day as if it's your last."

Other users were more skeptical.

"This is fake you guys. Look at the wine glass that's on the opposite side of the table some of it has been consumed," wrote one user. "Looks like somebody got in a fight and left."

"It clearly says ice bag with a bottle wrapped in something, not an urn. and there are two Valentine’s Day cards here," wrote another observer. "This women is looking for her five minutes of viral. Not to mention there are two plates on the other side one which appears to have a pickle on it."
