New Dove Campaign Encourages Women To Appreciate Their Beauty (Video)

A new ad by skincare brand Dove posed a simple yet important question to women across the world — if you had the choice to walk through a door that said “average” or one that said “beautiful,” which would you choose?

The new ad campaign included footage from around the world of women walking through the specially marked doors into buildings (video below). “Feeling beautiful is a personal choice women should feel empowered to make for themselves, every day,” Dove said.

Interestingly, most of the women featured in the ad chose to walk through the door marked average.

“Am I choosing because of what’s constantly bombarded at me and what I’m being told that I should accept?” one woman asked. “Or am I choosing because that’s what I really believe?”

“Beautiful to me… it’s too far out of reach,” another said.

Women who went through the door in pairs chose the beautiful door, something that one teenager admitted was done out of pressure. “I wanted to go through the average door,” the teen said, adding that her mother “just pulled me over to the beautiful door.” Another woman said that having the choice to go through the “beautiful” door was “empowering.”

“It was quite a triumphant feeling,” she said. “It was like telling the world I think I’m beautiful.”
