Naomi Watts 'Camera Duels' With Fan In New York

Australian actress Naomi Watts and an admirer shared a funny exchange on the subway that was later documented on social media.

An excited fan in New York City happened to be sitting in the same subway car as the famous star and snapped a picture of her.

The 48-year-old star got her revenge when she shared an image of the fan photographer with her thousands of followers on Instagram.

The fan confessed to having taken the clandestine photo, in a hilarious twist that sparked a lot of social media commentary and laughs on the side.

In June 2016, portrait photographer Aubrey Lofgren was visiting New York when she happened to sit opposite Watts on the subway, reports the Daily Mail.

She snapped a picture of Watts, who was looking at her phone, seemingly unaware of what was going on.

The fan later posted the picture and labeled it with the following: "The beautiful Naomi Watts on the subway today. #fanningout."

But Lofgren later found out Watts had aimed her phone at her and took a snap of the sneaky fan at around the same time.

"Think you're pretty sneaky? #got you #snap #subwayscenes," the actress wrote in her Instagram caption.

After Watts' post, Lofgren admitted the picture was of her, shared the actress' picture of her and captioned it with a funny: "Busted."

The amusing exchange took place in 2016 but only went viral on Twitter in April 2017 when a user connected the two separate posts and reported it on the social media platform.

Many people commented on the funny trick with one person tweeting: "Naomi Watts 1 Everybody else 0."

Another fan exclaimed "naomi watts just bumped naomi watts for first place on my girlfriend list [sic]."

Another Tweeter, a big fan of Watts, stated: "I'm ready for Naomi Watts to have her own renaissance."

Watts is not the only star to give photo-snapping followers a taste of their own medicine, People magazine reports.

Cole Sprouse, a twin who stars in Disney Channel's "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody" started up an Instagram page called "Camera Duels" which is dedicated to all people who have tried to sneak a picture of him.

"This instagram is dedicated to the people out there who secretly take photos of me, and how I take photos of them first," he wrote on the web site's description space. "May the fastest camera win."

The account has more than 1 million followers.
