Famous friends and family celebrated Beyonce Knowles-Carter's 36th birthday on Sept. 4 with tributes to the pop star.
The famed singer's big day kicked off with a tribute from friends and family recreating her look from the "Formation" music video, according to Us magazine. The outfit, which includes a wide-brimmed dark hat and extravagant jewelry paired with long braids, became one of the artist's most iconic looks after the video's release.
"Happy birthday Beyonce / From your family and friends," said a message on the singer's website.
Beyonce's 5-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, appeared in a photo emulating the look, alongside almost 20 women dressed up in versions of the outfit, including mom Tina Knowles-Lawson and mother-in-law Gloria Carter.
Famous friends who joined in the tribute included former first lady Michelle Obama, tennis star Serena Williams, and Destiny's Child bandmates Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland.
The message also urged fans to support efforts to provide relief for Beyonce's hometown, Houston, which was severely flooded and damaged by Hurricane Harvey in late August, leaving many in the area displaced. Ths storm and its aftermath reportedly killed at least 50 people.
Beyonce has previously announced she would be pitching in to help Houston with her BeyGOOD effort in Houston, Forbes reports. She has joined her efforts with the Greater Houston Community Foundation and Bread of Life to provide relief to those affected by Harvey.
"Texas, you are in my prayers," said an Instagram post by the artist.
Beyonce, who in 2016 was at the top of a list of the most charitable celebrities by DoSomething.org, said donations to the effort would go toward "long-term revitalization" along with short-term relief like wheelchairs, blankets, baby products, feminine products and cots for those displaced by the storm.
Husband Jay-Z, 47, also paid tribute to his wife for her birthday, giving her a shout-out on stage Sept. 3, according to Page Six.
"Shout out to Beyonce," said the famed rapper. "Beautiful Bey is in the house tonight. Happy birthday, my love."
He also led the audience in a round of singing "Happy Birthday," along with Stevie Wonder's version, to Beyonce.
Knowles-Lawson posted a sweet message for her daughter's 36th on Instagram.
"36 years ago God chose me out of all the women in the world to be your mother," wrote the mom. "How blessed could I be? Not because you are super talented, smart businesswoman and one of the biggest superstars! It's because you are the kindest most generous, thoughtful, loyal, humble, funny, grounded, grateful and loving human being."
"I am proud to be your mom," she added.
