Woman Throws A 'Cake Tantrum' In A Bakery

A Michigan woman who was unhappy with her custom birthday cake allegedly "drop-kicked" the cake in anger at a local Kroger’s store. As a result, Bloomfield Township Police began investigating the customer who threw a cake tantrum in front of the supermarket’s employees before storming out.

The woman came into the Kroger’s to pick up a "Batman v. Superman" birthday cake from the bakery section at around 2 p.m. on June 11, according to a press release via Detroit Free Press.

But the unidentified customer did not like the cake's decoration and walked behind the bakery counter to try to correct it herself, according to authorities. The bakery workers soon found out how far the woman would go to express her dissatisfaction, reports WXYZ.

One employee told her not to step behind the counter when the incensed customer crossed the line. But the woman only got madder when she was told to back off. She brought the cake back to the front of the counter and then “drop-kick[ed]” it, says the Kroger manager.

“The action caused pieces of cake and frosting to be strewn about the bakery section of the store,” the news release stated. The customer also seemingly “stepped on (the cake) several times” and cursed while yelling, ‘They f****** ruined my 7-year-old’s birthday cake!’”

She quickly stormed off, “kicking over a wet floor sign on her way out,” the release said.

The woman was later questioned by the police and admitted she was distraught over the uninspiring cake decoration, which “was not as she expected.” Nonetheless, the customer rebuffed the idea that she intentionally “drop-kicked” the cake, and told authorities that “it accidentally slipped out of her hand.”

Since Kroger does not have video footage of the incident, authorities may never know what the cake looked like, or why it infuriated the customer enough to cause a fit. However, following further investigation, the suspect has been charged with disorderly conduct.
