Kind Soul Makes Good On 13-Year-Old Debt To Pizza Shop (Photo)

Once upon a time, the person featured in this story was broke and desperate for help. But, as most of you know, a child’s stomach doesn’t stop asking for food just because you’re low on money.

When someone is stuck in this situation, desperate times can call for unethical measures. Feeling that they had no other choice, our subject here wrote a check to a pizza shop that they knew ahead of time would bounce – and they’ve felt terrible about it ever since.

Recently, the owner of the pizza shop received an unexpected letter in the mail. It was from the person who, 13 years ago now, wrote the bad check.

“Back in 2002, I bounced a check at your pizza shop,” the person wrote. “I was going through a very difficult time financially and was at the end of my rope. I had no money and a hungry child at home … I think of this often and I am incredibly ashamed and embarrassed at my behavior.”

The person says they’ve visited the pizza shop several times in recent years, but have always been too afraid to confess to their bad deed. That’s all changed now.

The person included a check in their letter to the shop, and it more than makes up for the debt they once owed.

“I’ve enclosed a money order for $54.39,” they wrote. “I came to this amount by assuming the original order was $20 and then adding 8% interest compounded yearly for the last 13 years.”
