Kid Rock, who has been known to use a Confederate flag during his concerts, recently slammed people who want him to stop.
“Please tell the people who are protesting to kiss my a--,” Rock said in a statement that was reported by Fox News host Megyn Kelly on July 9 (video below).
Kelly was shocked that the Michigan Chapter of National Action Network called for Rock to stop using the flag because the singer "has done a lot to help" Detroit, notes Mediaite.com.
According to the Detroit Free Press, Rev. Charles Williams II, who heads up Michigan's Chapter of NAN, issued a statement on July 6 calling for Rock to stop using the flag during his shows.
Williams also called Rock "the hometown hero who is a zero with the Confederate flag" during a recent protest.
Williams mentioned the racism the flag represents and the recent shooting in South Carolina of nine black people.
"How in the hell can Kid Rock represent Detroit and wave that flag just generating millions and millions in ticket sales, a flag that represents genocide to most of Detroit?" Sam Riddle, the political director of the NAN, added.
Fox News guest Dana Loesch claimed the genocide of Detroit was committed by those governing the city for the last few decades.
