Hillary Duff Outraged Over Reaction To Kissing Her Son (Photo)

After a kiss on her son's lips sparked controversy, actress Hilary Duff has responded with outrage.

"For anyone commenting that a kiss on the lips with my four year old is 'inappropriate' go ahead and click a quick unfollow with your warped minds and judgment," Duff wrote on Instagram.

Some posted negative comments after Duff posted a Disneyland photo where she is seen kissing her 4-year-old son, Luca, on the lips.

"Happiest happiest happiest happiest happiest happiest happiest happiest place on earth!" she captioned the original photo posted Dec. 13. "We love you [Disneyland]."

Some found the kiss inappropriate.

“You should not kiss your son like that," wrote one Instagram user. "There’s other ways to show love but not that one. It’s confusing for him, it’s not healthy.”

Many were quick to defend the star.

"I think this picture is so sweet !!" said another woman. "So many children are not loved at all and people want to criticize a mom showing love to her son?! I have two littles at home & will kiss them on the lips for as long as they will let me!! How about we support one another and not tear down moms trying to do her best!"

Some said they found nothing wrong with the photo because the child is "a young boy not 25+."

Others  said it did not matter what the age of the child is.

"I'm 55 years old & still kiss my parents on the lips!!" added another user.

But fans are not the only ones with mixed opinions about the kiss. It is an issue psychologists have also debated, the Independent reports.

Psychologist Charlotte Reznick warns kissing children on the mouth “can be stimulating” as it is an erogenous zone. She claims it can "confuse" children.

“If mommy kisses daddy on the mouth and vice versa, what does that mean, when I, a little girl or boy, kiss my parents on the mouth," Reznick explained.

Other child psychologists disagree with that view.

“There is absolutely no way that kissing a young child on the lips is confusing for them in any way," explains psychologist Sally-Anne McCormack. “That’s like saying breastfeeding is confusing. Some people might have issues with it, but it isn’t any more sexual than giving a baby a back rub.”
