Grandpa's Reaction To Rude Woman At Wal-Mart Goes Viral

A man on Facebook shared a story of his time working as a Wal-Mart greeter, which, thanks to one rude customer, lasted only one day.

David Geller's Facebook post about his confrontation with the customer went viral.

"So I finally landed a job as a Wal-Mart greeter, which is a good find for many retirees, unfortunately I lasted less than a day.

"About two hours into my first day on the job a very loud, unattractive, mean-acting woman walked into the store with her two kids, yelling obscenities at them all the way through the entrance. Per my greeter training manual I said pleasantly, 'Good morning and welcome to Wal-Mart. Nice children you have there. Are they twins?'

"The ugly woman stopped yelling long enough to say, 'Hell no, they ain’t twins. The oldest one is 9, and the other one is 7. Why the hell would you think they’re twins? Are you blind, or just stupid?'

"So I replied, 'I’m neither blind nor stupid, madam. I just couldn’t believe someone slept with you twice. Have a good day and thank you for shopping at Wal-Mart.'

"My supervisor said I probably wasn’t cut out for this line of work."

Geller's post went viral soon after being posted, garnering more than 1 million shares on Facebook since it was posted in August 2015.

In another Wal-Mart incident in 2011, a greeter was fired for grabbing an unruly customer during a Black Friday sale. Janice Sullivan, 73, had been with the company for 22 years when she was let go after she put her hands on a customer who allegedly pushed her while leaving the store in St. Petersburg, Florida.

"Wal-Mart was my family," Sullivan told ABC News. Sullivan maintained that she grabbed the woman to keep herself from falling.

A spokeswoman for the company told ABC News that the situation "led to a bad experience" for the customer and that it "could have been avoided.

"We had to make a tough decision -- one that we don't take lightly," the spokeswoman said.
