'The Daily Show' Blocks Breitbart From Filming (Video)

Breitbart News' Senior Editor-at-Large Joel Pollak tried to film a crew from "The Daily Show," which was trying to film people outside a Gays for Trump party in the early morning hours of July 20 near the Republican National Convention in Cleveland (video below).

According to Breitbart News reporter Lee Stranahan, the party was being hosted by Milo Yiannopoulos, a controversial editor for the news site who was recently banned from Twitter.

In the video, an unidentified member of "The Daily Show" crew blocks Pollak and his cellphone, and tells him that he can't film because it will ruin the segment for its comedy news parody show; Pollak replies, "That doesn't bother me."

Pollak adds that it is a public space, but the crew member tells him it is a private space because protesters have been blocked off.

Pollak counters, "No, the protesters are there for our safety. We can film wherever we like here."

The crew member keeps blocking Pollak, and tells him to step away, but Pollak refuses. The crew member refuses to give his name.

A second crew member says they have permission to film from Cleveland state. Pollak says it's a public university and public property so he is allowed to film as well.

The second crew member says Pollak can stay, but lectures him about social media use.

Pollak tells both crew members that he is going to stay and film them ambushing people.

"I can film you filming people filming people at my party," Pollak adds.

"No, you may not," the first crew member fires back. "We're not going to film if you're filming."

Pollak says that's fine, and the first crew member says he's going to stand in front of him until "four in the morning."

The TV shoot soon ends, and the second crew member insists they were inviting Pollak to watch.

As the crew packs up, Pollak keeps filming and states how "The Daily Show" wants to film gay and conservative people and make fun of them.

The first crew member demands that Pollak step away, but Pollak refuses and keeps filming.

Pollack later told Stranahan:

I wanted to shoot raw footage of their interview with a young, gay conservative, because I wanted to compare it to their final cut and see whether they had been fair to him.

I didn’t want this person to be humiliated merely for being gay and having the "wrong" political views.

They told me not to film, then they told me  -- incorrectly -- that I couldn’t film them, and then one of their reporters pushed me. Finally, they gave up, packed up their cameras and ran away.

The New American Media also filmed part of the incident and wrote a scathing note on its YouTube page: "You can hear the lies told by The Daily Show crew. You can see the tall skinny punk cross his arms, and throw an elbow into Joel. It's possible that this crew lies and intimidates at all of their stops, and maybe people never confront them."

"The Daily Show" has not issued a comment on the incident.
