Charlie Sheen has ignited an online backlash after taking to Twitter to hope that President-elect Donald Trump is the next celebrity to die.
The Daily Mail reports that Sheen tweeted the following: "Dear God; Trump next, please! Trump next, please! Trump next, please! Trump next, please! Trump next, please! Trump next, please!"
There is also a middle finger emoji at the bottom of the tweet.
The backlash was instantaneous, as one Twitter user responded by calling Sheen, “A total scumbag,” and another added, “Your contribution to humanity is what, exactly?”
Some on social media have urged police to go after Sheen, while others wished him dead in return. One woman pondered how much of a backlash there would be if Sheen wished death on President Barack Obama instead of Trump.
The tweet came an hour after news of the death of famous actress Debbie Reynolds, mother to Carrie Fisher, who died just one day previously.
Those two deaths round out a year which saw the lives of many famous faces end, including Prince, Muhammad Ali, and David Bowie.
No word yet from Sheen or Trump on any of the controversy.
