An Oklahoma family that prayed before its meal at a diner received an awesome surprise.
The family from Yukon, Oklahoma, went to Jimmy's Egg, an area diner, for breakfast, KFOR News Channel 4 reported on Nov. 9. Before beginning the meal, family members bowed their heads in prayer.
But someone was watching.
When the time came to pay for the meal, the family received a note from an anonymous diner instead of the check.
"Because you prayed, we paid," the note read. "Continue to raise your sons in Christ. God Bless."
Sherry Thompson, assistant manager at Jimmy's Egg, told KFOR the woman in the family was deeply touched by the random act of kindness.
"She was about in tears, the customer who got her food bought," Thompson said.
The woman reportedly posted a picture of the note on her Facebook page, and it has now gone viral.
Thompson explained that paying it forward happens regularly at the friendly restaurant.
"We see a lot of people paying it forward, buying for other people," Thompson said. "Especially coming holiday time, we see a lot of that, we do. Because we have really good customers."
"You feel better as a server to know that there are some nice, kind people out there," she added.
KFOR said it initially learned of the act of kindness in a post on a website for a church in England. The family, which was not named, could not be reached for comment.
This is not the first time a stranger has paid for a family's meal at a restaurant. In October, a struggling family was moved when a man who dined with them at New Mandarin Chinese Restaurant in Moline, Illinois, paid for their meal before leaving, WQAD reported at the time.
