The awkwardness between actresses Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston did not go unnoticed at the Golden Globes in 2018. It was quite a scene to catch "Fifty Shades of Grey" star Dakota Johnson sneaking a peek at Jolie's reaction to her supposed rival, Aniston, while she was on the stage presenting an award alongside veteran actress Carol Burnett (video below).
Pictures from the Golden Globe awards show reveal Jolie's uncomfortable reaction to Aniston. Jolie, who had an affair with actor Brad Pitt while he was married to Aniston, was seen studiously avoiding looking at the stage. Instead, she looked at the table. The rest of the ceremony went without awkwardness between the two after the stage encounter. Both actresses were seated on opposite sides of the ballroom.
Aniston is thought to have avoided walking the red carpet to avoid running into the Oscar-winner Jolie. But the two came face to face at the Netflix after party they both attended. The two actresses haven't been in the same room with each other after the Critic's Choice Award in 2015, which is almost 10 years after Pitt ended his relationship with "Friends" star Aniston to date Jolie. That incident ignited gossip and stayed in the news for quite some time, shortly after which Pitt's and Jolie's relationship was constantly in the limelight.
Some viewers took it upon themselves to speculate about this awkward moment between the pair at the Golden Globes. One of the Twitter famdom tweeted what everyone else had been thinking. The tweet read, "You’re lying if you can't relate to Dakota staring at Angelina's face for a reaction to Jennifer being on the stage." This tweet got re-tweeted by several others as an acknowledgement to the awkwardness between the two actresses and posted their own views and comments. Another tweet was, "Dakota Johnson got caught watching Angelina Jolie while Jennifer Aniston presented: When you're trying to be subtle but can't help yourself."
Both the popular actresses have been married to Pitt. Jennifer, 48, was married to him from 2000 to 2005 and Jolie, 42, from 2014 until the couple divorced in 2017. Many critics claim that Jolie and Pitt started getting closer when they worked together on the movie, "Mr and Mrs Smith" in 2005, and that she 'stole' Pitt from Aniston. Others believe the relationship between Pitt and Aniston was already on the verge of falling apart and it would've happened anyway.
Jolie claims she started a romantic relationship with Pitt only after his divorce with Aniston was filed. The two began dating after Pitt's divorce with Aniston, but the couple did not officially marry until 2014. The two have six children together. The couple split up in 2016, after some kind of an incident on a private jet involving one of their children. Jolie later filed for divorce.
Although the awkwardness can be seen clearly, both the actresses did not cross paths even at the after party. They were neither photographed together nor were they spotted running into each other.
