Americans Can't Answer Easy Questions About World War II (Video)

World War II ended 70 years ago, and apparently that's long enough for many Americans to either forget or not know the basic facts.

The Resident recently sent a reporter to Times Square in New York City to ask folks some simple questions about WW II, but no one could answer (video below).

One young woman had not heard of World War II, two men were unable to name both sides that fought, while another woman thought that the war was between George W. Bush and Saddam Hussein.

The reporter asked an older man what he thought about the results, and he replied, "Well, I hate to say it, but most young Americans are pretty ignorant."

In 2014, performed an online poll that found 55% of Americans believed they were smarter than the average American, while 34% thought they were as intelligent as the average American and 4% said they trailed.

A study by the Pearson and the Economist Intelligence Unit in 2014 ranked the U.S. at 20 in educational attainment and 11 at cognitive skills.
