"Charmed" actress Alyssa Milano showed off her new hairstyle in an Instagram post ahead of Super Bowl LI In Houston.
But her cornrows did not go over as well with some social media users as she had hoped, according to Daily Mail.
In the picture, Milano poses in front of some people looking on. It was taken at the Off the Field Players' Wives Association fashion event.
"Girl, who did these braids?" wrote one user in response, according to The Huffington Post.
Others pointed out the expressions on the faces of those in the background, who were looking at Milano.
"The people in the background are feeling the same as me," wrote another.
"The amount of disgust on their faces is unmatched by anything I've seen in all of my existence," one added.
The picture was shared among friends, with one writing to another, "Please make your day by zooming in on the faces of the people in the background," the Mail reported.
Other commenters attacked Milano, alleging she had shown a lack of cultural sensitivity.
"Black cultural styles are not costumes," wrote one user.
Milano reacted to this comment in a post of her own.
"I'm so sorry you feel this way. I celebrate all cultures and styles. With pride," the actress wrote.
Milano decided to change her look the next day, wearing crown braids at an event organized by Rolling Stone.
